#StepUpForWomen Campaign to Raise Support and Awareness for In Christy’s Shoes and the Challenges of Many Local Women.

We’ll all start seeing a new type of selfie on social media this spring – the “shoe selfie” – and it’s not just people showing off their newest footwear. It’s part of the #StepUpForWomen campaign being launched by In Christy’s Shoes.

The campaign encourages people to post photos of their shoes stepping up a flight of steps, and then tag their social media post with #StepUpForWomen. These posts are intended to raise awareness and support for both In Christy’s Shoes and the many challenges that local women face in their lives.

“People can do it in sneakers or pumps, sandals or boots. They can be walking up the stairs in their house or the stairs to the Statehouse,” explained Katrina Levy Zidel, CEO of In Christy’s Shoes. “I hope people choose to make the photos interesting, but more importantly, I hope they choose to support local women by spreading the word, challenging others to do the same, donating to our cause, and attending our Sole Celebration event on May 18th.”

In Christy’s Shoes is a Columbus-based nonprofit organization that provides funding and awareness for programs that support women on their journey of personal growth. The mission of the organization is to inspire women in challenging circumstances to walk in their shoes with confidence, strength and stability.

Since its inception in 2009, In Christy’s Shoes has raised over $700,000, collected and donated over 7,000 pairs of shoes, and impacted the lives of more than 3,500 women. The programs that In Christy’s Shoes supports focus on homelessness, unemployment, domestic abuse, substance abuse, human trafficking, and brain cancer/hospice.

The #StepUpForWomen campaign is encouraging people to step up in three different ways.
1. Post a shoe selfie and encourage others to #StepUpForWomen
2. Donate to In Christy’s Shoes at www.stepupforwomen.org
3. Attend the Sole Celebration.

The Sole Celebration is the premier annual event of In Christy’s Shoes. This year’s event is on May 18th, Thursday from 6-9:30pm at St. Charles Preparatory School. The evening will include a runway fashion show, silent and live auction, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, raffles, and more.
